Besides it being my first blog it’s my first Valentine’s at the HBB studio! Eager, nervous and excited all in one. But I’m prepped and ready to go. The flowers are ordered, the brownies are being baked (thanks Sam) and the brownie boxes have their stickers on. The orders are coming in and we are looking good.
Why do we celebrate Valentine’s Day? As the story goes, in the third century AD, Roman Emperor Claudius II wanted to strengthen his army so he banned young men from marrying. Valentine, it is said, ignored the ban and performed marriages in secret. He was caught out and for his boldness was executed in AD 270 on 14th February.
So now on the 14th February we celebrate Valentine’s Day… a day to show your love. Many people exchange cards, chocolates, gifts or FLOWERS with that special “Valentine” or as I’ve found it doesn’t need to be your Valentine – blossom bouquets are heading out to sisters from brothers, to daughters from fathers, from besties to besties as well as all those married and partnered couples.
Although the majority of the messages being sent are about romantic love – it is obvious that Valentine’s Day is also a day where you get to tell the people you care about that they matter too – no matter what the relationship.
Your messages are great and very original, some are extremely funny, some a little cheeky but the words that come straight from the heart and are deeply romantic are very touching.
There is so much love being spread around Tamworth this weekend and I am so happy to be a part of it. Thank you Tamworth for letting me share in your special day of love.
Happy Valentine's Day!
